Discover Our Story

Our story began 16 years ago in Montreal, Canada where Edward Zaki and Alexandre Gosselin met. Eddie and Alex became extraordinary friends and outstanding partners in their culinary ventures, with one common goal in mind: Delivering modern culinary experiences through each restaurant they curate.

Having co-owned, owned, managed and consulted several successful and renowned restaurants in the last 25 years, Eddie and Alex decided to venture off and expand their horizons to start their next culinary venture in the United States.

Mila Aguiar is the vibrant Co-owner and General Manager of 1592. Her passion for service to individuals and the community initially led her into the hotel industry. Her partner in life and business recognized her great abilities in the service industry and introduced her to the life of a restaurateur. She brings her extensive knowledge from working with world-renowned companies to Sarasota, and hopes to bring a fresh and elevated experience to every person and party she encounters in her restaurant.

Johnny Zaki is a passionate and innovative Chef. He carved a name for himself in the Montreal food scene and led a successful bustling restaurant for several years. It was time for a new challenge! We are excited to welcome Chef Johnny in joining our dynamic team and take 1592 to new heights.

 

Our Bar

Our bar offers hand crafted classic and signature cocktails made with fresh fruit and herbs, as well as a selection of imported, domestic and local craft brews on tap. Our wines are carefully selected focusing on pairings that complement the cuisine of Chef Alex. Just like our food, our wine list is diverse, exciting and adventurous.

The modus operandi at 1592 is fire. The key feature – everything is cooked on wood fired grill. The menu is handcrafted and well executed. By creating intuitive culinary dishes with eclectic combinations of flavors, Executive Chef Alexandre Gosselin and Chef de Cuisine Johnny Zaki come together to orchestrate dishes that manipulate the flavors of local fresh ingredients, with a fine taste of modernity.
